UPRC Participated in UNITAR Conference on Maritime Cybersecurity in Brussels
The University of Piraeus Research Center (UPRC) was honored to have been invited to and to have participated in a conference organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), held on 27–28 May 2026 at the UN House in Brussels.
Maritime Cyber Lab: From Risk to Resilience – 2026 Edition
The conference brought together senior stakeholders from across the maritime sector, including representatives from ports, shipping companies, international organizations, maritime insurers, financial institutions, and technology providers.
The event facilitated a structured exchange of views on practical approaches to strengthening cybersecurity training in support of maritime cyber resilience. Discussions focused particularly on operational lessons learned, effective governance models, and key capacity-building priorities across the broader maritime ecosystem.
The CYberSynchrony project was also represented at the conference through UPRC project partners. During the discussions, the need for hands-on cybersecurity training was strongly emphasized. Taking this opportunity, Professor Nineta Polemi introduced the CYberSynchrony platform and presented the CYBERWISE module as an innovative solution for advancing practical cybersecurity training.
UPRC’s participation contributed to the ongoing dialogue on enhancing preparedness and resilience within the maritime domain through targeted training and collaboration.
